The Atelier
The engagement is the first event where you are photographed as a couple, and it sits in an awkward middle register: more formal than the pre-wedding functions, less ceremonial than the wedding day. At Chirag Parmar Signatures in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, we design engagement outfits that read as deliberate rather than as a wedding outfit worn early or an office suit worn late.
A lightweight three-piece suit or a structured Indo-Western jacket is the right register for most engagements. Because the ring exchange puts your hands at the centre of every photograph, sleeve length matters more here than at any other function: the cuff should end at the wrist bone and show a clean half-inch of shirt. For daytime ceremonies, lighter tones and finer wools photograph better; for evening, deeper jewel tones and a touch of texture in brocade or jacquard hold up under venue lighting.
The Process
A direct consultation with founder Chirag Parmar on occasion, silhouette and fabric, with no sales floor handoff.
Choose from pure silk brocade, Super 120s to 150s wool, raw silk, velvet or linen, matched to your occasion.
A pattern drafted from roughly 20 to 25 measurements, including posture points a size chart never captures.
Fittings refine the fit, and embroidery is worked in-house. Most garments are ready in two to eight weeks.
