Black is harder to photograph than any other colour, since a flat black cotton-blend absorbs light and collapses into a silhouette under a camera flash, losing the cut entirely. A fine wool, raw silk or velvet holds texture and returns light instead, which is what keeps the garment reading as a garment in the photographs you will actually keep. Every piece in the collection is assessed under both daylight and warm venue lighting before it is finalised, because black reads very differently depending on what it is woven from.
