The Atelier
Trousers are where ready-made menswear fails most visibly and gets altered most often. A standard size gives you one waist measurement and one inseam, and leaves the rise, seat and thigh to chance, which is why so many men wear trousers that either sag through the seat or pull across the thigh. At Chirag Parmar Signatures in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, we draft trousers from your own measurements so the waistband sits where it should without a belt doing structural work.
The rise is the decision most men have never been asked about, and it changes the whole silhouette: a mid-to-high rise sits at the natural waist, lengthens the leg and works properly with a tucked shirt, while a low rise reads casual and tends to gape when seated. From there we set the leg taper, the break (full, half, or a cleaner quarter break that suits Bengaluru’s year-round shoe choices), and the finish, plain hem for formal trousers or a turn-up cuff for weight and a more traditional line. Side adjusters instead of belt loops are worth considering for suit trousers.
The Process
A direct consultation with founder Chirag Parmar on occasion, silhouette and fabric, with no sales floor handoff.
Choose from pure silk brocade, Super 120s to 150s wool, raw silk, velvet or linen, matched to your occasion.
A pattern drafted from roughly 20 to 25 measurements, including posture points a size chart never captures.
Fittings refine the fit, and embroidery is worked in-house. Most garments are ready in two to eight weeks.
