Bespoke Menswear · Basavanagudi, Bengaluru
Made-to-measure Nehru jackets, bundis and waistcoats in Bangalore for festive, office and wedding layering. Tailored at the CPS Basavanagudi studio.
The Atelier
The Nehru jacket is the most efficient garment in Indian menswear: it converts a plain kurta into festive wear, adds structure to an outfit without the weight of a full jacket, and works over a formal shirt in an office where a suit would be too much. At Chirag Parmar Signatures in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, we cut Nehru jackets, bundis and waistcoats as deliberate layering pieces rather than an afterthought bought to match.
Length is the decision that matters most. A short bundi ending at the hip layers cleanly over a kurta for Haldi, Mehendi, and festive daytime events; a longer jacket reads more formal and works over a shirt and trousers. For wedding layering, tonal thread work or subtle Aari detailing on the collar and placket adds richness without competing with an embroidered kurta underneath. For office and everyday wear, a plain khadi, linen, or fine wool bundi in charcoal, olive, or navy is far more versatile than an embroidered one.
The Process
A direct consultation with founder Chirag Parmar on occasion, silhouette and fabric, with no sales floor handoff.
Choose from pure silk brocade, Super 120s to 150s wool, raw silk, velvet or linen, matched to your occasion.
A pattern drafted from roughly 20 to 25 measurements, including posture points a size chart never captures.
Fittings refine the fit, and embroidery is worked in-house. Most garments are ready in two to eight weeks.
