The Atelier

Tailored Suits for
Every Gentlemen

A suit has to survive being worn, not merely photographed. We build with half- or full-canvas construction rather than fused interlining, because a canvassed chest moulds to your body over years while a fused one eventually bubbles and lifts, particularly after repeated dry cleaning. It is the single detail that most decides how a suit looks in its third year.

For Bengaluru, a 250 to 280gsm Italian wool is the practical year-round weight, structured enough to hold a clean line and breathable enough for the climate. Chennai, Coimbatore and the coast are better served by lighter, more open weaves. We specify against where you will actually wear the suit rather than against a swatch card.

Navy and mid-grey cover the overwhelming majority of what a man needs, and rotating two suits rather than wearing one roughly doubles the life of both, since wool needs about a day to recover its shape. If you expect to wear a suit weekly, a second pair of trousers in the same cloth is the most cost-effective thing you can add: trousers wear through at the seat and thigh long before the jacket does.

The Art of Cloth: Fabric Glossary

A bespoke garment is only as exceptional as the cloth it is cut from, and the right choice changes by occasion, not just by taste. Here is a brief guide to the luxury weaves and finishes we offer, and which ceremony each one suits best.

Pure Silk & Brocade

The gold standard for wedding sherwanis. Known for its natural sheen and structured drape, silk brocade is often interwoven with gold or silver zarian threads for a royal aesthetic.

Best for: Muhurtham, Sherwani ceremonies

Super 120s to 150s Wool

Premium Italian wool ideal for bespoke suits and tuxedos. The "Super" number indicates the fineness of the yarn. Higher numbers mean a softer, more luxurious drape perfect for evening wear.

Best for: Reception, Sangeet suits

Raw Silk & Matka

Characterized by its textured, slightly nubby surface, raw silk offers a rich, matte finish. It is highly preferred for Indo-Westerns and Jodhpuris for a sophisticated, non-shiny look.

Best for: Baraat, Sangeet, Indo-Western looks

Velvet

A plush, heavy fabric that catches light beautifully. Used predominantly for regal reception tuxedos, statement blazers, or intricate hand-embroidered collars and cuffs.

Best for: Reception, evening functions

Cotton & Linen

Breathable and lightweight, these fabrics are built for daytime heat and long hours of movement rather than sheen or weight. Unlike silk or velvet, they stay comfortable through a full ceremony in direct sun.

Best for: Haldi, Mehendi kurtas

Frequently Asked Questions

Chirag Parmar Signatures in Basavanagudi specializes in made-to-measure bespoke suits, blazers and tuxedos. A suit has to survive being worn, not merely photographed, so the studio builds with half- or full-canvas construction rather than fused interlining, since a canvassed chest moulds to your body over years while a fused one eventually bubbles and lifts, particularly after repeated dry cleaning. It is the single detail that most decides how a suit looks in its third year, and it is also the detail most off-the-rack and even some tailored suits skip. Founder Chirag Parmar handles each consultation directly, discussing where you will actually wear the suit rather than fitting it against a swatch card alone.

Yes, reception tuxedos are one of our specialties. We build with the same half- or full-canvas construction as our business suits, faced in real silk or grosgrain rather than a synthetic substitute, and work in midnight blue, deep bottle green and velvet alongside classic black. Colour is the decision most grooms overthink and most venues quietly decide for them: midnight blue and deep bottle green read as black under warm banquet lighting while holding visible depth on camera, where flat black tends to collapse into a silhouette. We discuss venue lighting at the consultation so the finished tuxedo photographs the way you expect it to on the night.

A standard bespoke suit or tuxedo typically requires two to three weeks, including one to two trial fittings to ensure a flawless drape. The timeline holds fairly steady across most business and formal suits since the underlying construction, canvassed chest, hand-set shoulder, correct trouser break, takes comparable skilled hours regardless of the fabric chosen. Suits with additional detailing such as contrast lining, monogramming or a third piece like a waistcoat can run slightly longer. We recommend starting the consultation at least three weeks ahead of when the suit is needed, and earlier during the busier wedding season when the studio is booking multiple commissions in parallel.

Absolutely. During your consultation, we guide you through our curated selection of Italian wool, typically in the 250 to 280gsm range for Bengaluru year-round wear, structured enough to hold a clean line and breathable enough for the climate. For Chennai, Coimbatore and the coast, we generally steer clients toward lighter, more open weaves instead. We specify against where you will actually wear the suit rather than against a swatch card, since a fabric that looks striking as a sample can behave very differently across a full working day. Navy and mid-grey cover most of what a man needs, and we discuss rotation and a second pair of trousers if you expect to wear the suit weekly.

When evaluating wedding suit brands in Bengaluru, look for four signals: true made-to-measure construction rather than off-the-rack alteration, access to imported fabric libraries (Italian Super 120s-150s wool, silk, velvet), a structured fitting process with at least one trial fitting before delivery, and a visible portfolio of completed grooms across multiple ceremonies. Chirag Parmar Signatures, based in Basavanagudi, meets all four: full-canvas and half-canvas construction, curated Italian wool and silk fabric libraries, a 2-3 week made-to-measure process with trial fittings, and a documented portfolio spanning suits, tuxedos, sherwanis, and Indo-Western wear for grooms across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Price on request. Cost tracks cloth weight and canvas construction rather than a fixed off-the-rack price. Tell us how you plan to wear it and we will quote it.
