Celebrating Karnataka New Year with Pure Handloom Silks
Ugadi (derived from Yuga Adi, the beginning of a new era) and Gudi Padwa mark the auspicious commencement of the traditional Hindu lunar calendar across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra. As families gather in Bengaluru for the dawn Abhyanga Snana (ritual oil bath) and the tasting of sacred Bevu-Bella (neem leaves and jaggery symbolizing life’s bittersweet balance), donning brand-new, bespoke handloom silk attire is an ancestral tradition of prosperity.
Morning Panchanga Shravana to Evening Festive Gatherings
Unlike off-the-rack synthetic kurtas that turn clammy during warm March and April festivities, bespoke Ugadi wear from Chirag Parmar Signatures is cut exclusively in 100% natural pure silks:
- Pure Mulberry & Mysore Raw Silks: Sourced from heritage Karnataka weavers, these fabrics possess an organic luminescent sheen, breathe effortlessly during morning poojas, and drape with natural regal dignity.
- Traditional Panche & Angavastram Pairing: For temple visits and home rituals, pair a tailored ivory or mango-yellow silk kurta with a pure silk gold-zari bordered panche (dhoti) and matching shoulder angavastram.
- Evening Festive Layering: Transition into evening family feasts and community gatherings by layering a structured, hand-woven brocade Bundi (Nehru) jacket over your silk kurta.
Anatomical Comfort for Extended Rituals
Sitting cross-legged on the floor during the extended Panchanga Shravana (reading of the new year almanac) demands precision tailoring. At our Basavanagudi atelier, founder Chirag Parmar drafts higher scye armholes and calibrated side vents so your kurta rests perfectly without riding up, choking the neckline, or pulling across the shoulders.
