Bespoke Menswear · Basavanagudi, Bengaluru
Bespoke Ashirbad and Bengali engagement outfits for grooms in Bangalore. Dhoti-panjabi pairings and silk kurta sets by Chirag Parmar Signatures.
The Atelier
The Ashirbad is the Bengali blessing ceremony, at which elders from both families formally bless the couple ahead of the wedding. It is a quiet, ritual-led occasion rather than a celebratory one, and the dress convention reflects that. At Chirag Parmar Signatures in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, we tailor for the Bengali community across Karnataka, where the traditional register still holds firmly for this ceremony.
A dhoti paired with a panjabi, the Bengali kurta, in cream, off-white, or soft gold with a fine zari border is the traditional and expected choice. The Bengali aesthetic here is deliberately restrained: fine fabric, clean drape, and minimal embroidery rather than heavy embellishment. Tussar and fine cotton-silk hold their drape well and stay comfortable through a seated ceremony. For grooms who want a contemporary edge, a well-cut silk panjabi with subtle tonal thread work stays within convention.
The Process
A direct consultation with founder Chirag Parmar on occasion, silhouette and fabric, with no sales floor handoff.
Choose from pure silk brocade, Super 120s to 150s wool, raw silk, velvet or linen, matched to your occasion.
A pattern drafted from roughly 20 to 25 measurements, including posture points a size chart never captures.
Fittings refine the fit, and embroidery is worked in-house. Most garments are ready in two to eight weeks.
