Bespoke Menswear · Basavanagudi, Bengaluru
Bespoke Sakharpuda outfits for Marathi grooms in Bangalore. Traditional kurta sets and bandhgalas for the engagement, by Chirag Parmar Signatures.
The Atelier
The Sakharpuda is the Marathi engagement, named for the packet of sugar exchanged as a token of the commitment. It is a warm, family-centred ceremony rather than a grand one, typically held at home or a modest hall in daylight. At Chirag Parmar Signatures in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, we tailor Sakharpuda wear for Marathi families across Karnataka, where the community is long established.
A silk kurta with churidar, or a kurta paired with a fine Nehru jacket, sits at the right level for most Sakharpuda ceremonies. The traditional Maharashtrian palette leans toward cream, off-white, saffron, and deep red, which photograph well in daytime home lighting. Grooms who wear a Puneri pheta for the ceremony should keep the outfit itself understated, since the pheta is the focal point and a heavily embroidered kurta underneath competes with it rather than supporting it.
The Process
A direct consultation with founder Chirag Parmar on occasion, silhouette and fabric, with no sales floor handoff.
Choose from pure silk brocade, Super 120s to 150s wool, raw silk, velvet or linen, matched to your occasion.
A pattern drafted from roughly 20 to 25 measurements, including posture points a size chart never captures.
Fittings refine the fit, and embroidery is worked in-house. Most garments are ready in two to eight weeks.
