What Is a Sakharpuda?
The Marathi engagement takes its name from the packet of sugar exchanged as a token of the commitment. It is warm and family-centred rather than grand, typically held at home or a modest hall in daylight, with both families present and the ceremony itself fairly brief.

How Does a Pheta Change the Outfit?
The Puneri pheta adds height and a strong colour at the top of the frame, usually saffron or a deep red. Once it is on, it becomes the focal point, which means the garment beneath should be calmer than you might otherwise choose. Keep embroidery away from the collar and yoke so the two do not compete, and make sure the mandarin collar sits flat, because a gaping collar is very visible under a tied pheta.
What Should You Wear?
- Silk kurta with churidar: the traditional and most common choice.
- Kurta with a fine Nehru jacket: slightly more formal, and more reusable afterwards.
- Palette: cream, off-white, saffron, deep red.
- Fabric: fine silk or silk-cotton; brocade is heavy for a daytime home ceremony.

Every commission is quoted individually at the consultation, because cloth, construction and the hours of hand embroidery move the figure more than anything else. Unstitched silks such as a veshti, panche or mundu are not included.

Every garment is drafted from roughly 20 to 25 of your own measurements and cut from our own fabric library. One fitting is standard before the garment is finished, and alterations are covered for one month after delivery or until the garment has been worn, whichever comes first.
