What Are These Functions Actually Asking For?
Carnival nights and poolside functions are the lowest-stakes events on the calendar and the easiest to enjoy, which is exactly why they are worth dressing for properly. There is no ceremonial requirement at all, so the only real constraints are heat, water and movement. Bold reads better than formal here.

Which Fabrics Survive Sun and Water?
Linen and cotton, in that order. Both breathe, both dry, and both look better slightly rumpled than any synthetic does pressed. Avoid anything with metallic thread near a pool, and avoid lined jackets entirely: a lining turns a light jacket into a sauna in daytime heat and takes far longer to dry if it gets splashed.
Can You Wear Shorts?
Tailored shorts are acceptable at a genuine poolside function and nowhere else on the wedding calendar. If you wear them, have them cut properly, just above the knee, with a clean hem, and pair them with a good linen shirt rather than a casual tee. The difference between tailored shorts and holiday shorts is obvious in photographs.
Is It Worth Having Something Made?
For the carnival night, yes, because a statement piece is the whole point and an off-the-rack version rarely fits well enough to carry a bold colour or a painted design. For the pool function, a well-cut linen shirt and trousers is a modest commission that you will wear for years afterwards. See hand-painted pieces.

Our published starting prices and typical ranges, plus the usual atelier lead time before the fitting. Every commission is quoted individually at the consultation, because cloth, construction and the hours of hand embroidery move the figure more than anything else. Unstitched silks such as a veshti, panche or mundu are not included.

Every garment is drafted from roughly 20 to 25 of your own measurements and cut from our own fabric library. One fitting is standard before the garment is finished, and alterations are covered for one month after delivery or until the garment has been worn, whichever comes first.
