What Is Beegara Oota?
A Karnataka tradition with no real equivalent elsewhere: a formal lunch hosted between the two families, warm and social rather than ceremonial. Most groom wear guides skip it entirely, which leaves grooms guessing. The register it asks for is specific, dressed up enough to honour the hosts, light enough to sit through a long meal in daytime heat.

What Should You Wear?
A layered jacket over a kurta is the natural answer. It reads considered without the weight of full ceremonial dress, and it photographs correctly in daylight. Silk-cotton, fine linen or a light raw silk all work better than brocade for a daytime meal, and the jacket can come off once the eating starts without the look falling apart.
How Formal Is It Compared With the Wedding?
Considerably less. Beegara Oota sits closer to a good family lunch than to the Muhurtham, and dressing it at ceremony level reads as misjudging the occasion. Keep embroidery restrained and the palette warm and light, and save the silk and the handwork for the wedding day itself.
Can You Rewear Something?
Yes, and this is the right function for it. A kurta from an earlier engagement or festival function is entirely appropriate here, particularly with a different jacket over it to change the look.
