Why Do the Nikah and Walima Need Different Outfits?
Because they are different events in register, setting and purpose. The Nikah is the solemn contract ceremony, frequently held in a mosque or at home, and it calls for restraint. The Walima is the celebratory reception that follows, where richer construction is entirely appropriate. Wearing one garment to both is the most common mistake, and it always undersells one of the two occasions.

What Does the Setting Require?
If the Nikah is in a mosque, the practical considerations are modesty and removable footwear: full-length sleeves, a covered cut, and shoes you can slip off without a struggle. You will also be seated on the floor for parts of the ceremony, so the garment needs enough ease through the seat that the closure does not strain when you sit.
Can You Wear a Western Suit or Tuxedo?
For the Walima, yes, and plenty of grooms do; a sharp tuxedo or three-piece is entirely acceptable at a reception. For the Nikah itself, traditional dress is the safer and more usual choice, particularly where the ceremony is held in a mosque and elders are present. If you want the Western option, place it at the Walima where it reads as a deliberate choice rather than a misjudgement.

Our published starting prices and typical ranges, plus the usual atelier lead time before the fitting. Every commission is quoted individually at the consultation, because cloth, construction and the hours of hand embroidery move the figure more than anything else. Unstitched silks such as a veshti, panche or mundu are not included.

Every garment is drafted from roughly 20 to 25 of your own measurements and cut from our own fabric library. One fitting is standard before the garment is finished, and alterations are covered for one month after delivery or until the garment has been worn, whichever comes first.
