Where Does the Mangni Sit in the Sequence?
The Mangni is the formal engagement that marks the commitment before the Nikah. It is generally family-centred, held at home or a modest venue, and dignified rather than celebratory. That places it clearly below the Walima in formality, and dressing it at Walima level is the usual error.

What Does a Modest Cut Mean in Practice?
Full-length sleeves, a closed or high neckline, and a length that covers properly when seated and standing. That is the brief for a Mangni, and it is easier to achieve in a drafted garment than an altered one, because the closure and the collar are set to your posture rather than approximated. A bandhgala does this naturally; a sherwani does it with a little more ceremony.
Which Colours Work?
- Ivory and cream: the safest and most traditional.
- Soft gold: ceremonial without being loud.
- Grey, deep muted green and blue: good where the family prefers something less obviously bridal.
- Avoid: heavy metallic finishes, which belong at the Walima if anywhere.

Our published starting prices and typical ranges, plus the usual atelier lead time before the fitting. Every commission is quoted individually at the consultation, because cloth, construction and the hours of hand embroidery move the figure more than anything else. Unstitched silks such as a veshti, panche or mundu are not included.

Every garment is drafted from roughly 20 to 25 of your own measurements and cut from our own fabric library. One fitting is standard before the garment is finished, and alterations are covered for one month after delivery or until the garment has been worn, whichever comes first.
