The Atelier
The Nischitartham, also called Vaagdanam in many Telugu families, is the formal betrothal at which the match is publicly committed and the lagna patrika is read. It sits closer to the Tamil Nischayathartham than to a North Indian Sagai in register: traditional, daytime, and family-centred rather than a banquet occasion. At Chirag Parmar Signatures in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, we design for that traditional weight.
A traditional pancha paired with a silk kurta or angavastram is the most common choice, in cream, ivory, or soft gold. Telugu ceremonies frequently begin early and run long, so breathability matters more than embellishment: pure silk and silk-cotton blends hold their drape and stay wearable through a long seated ritual where a heavier brocade would not. Where a family is more contemporary, a finely embroidered silk kurta set with a light Nehru jacket is a comfortable middle ground.
The Process
A direct consultation with founder Chirag Parmar on occasion, silhouette and fabric, with no sales floor handoff.
Choose from pure silk brocade, Super 120s to 150s wool, raw silk, velvet or linen, matched to your occasion.
A pattern drafted from roughly 20 to 25 measurements, including posture points a size chart never captures.
Fittings refine the fit, and embroidery is worked in-house. Most garments are ready in two to eight weeks.
